My Geek.Kon Schedule!

Geek.Kon is HERE already! This weekend (August 21-23) will be the celebration of all (okay, MOST) things geeky at Geek.Kon. Here’s my schedule for the weekend:

Friday

6:00 to 6:50 – Conventions on a Budget – La Crosse
We all love going to conventions, but they can be expensive. How can you make your dollar stretch further at Cons? So, y’know…you can go to more cons.

8:00 to 10:00 – Gaming with the Guests – Tabletop
I’ll be running a Zombie Dice tournament — with PRIZES! It’s a fundraiser for Second Harvest Foodbank, so bring lots of $1 bills to spend so you can keep your zombie alive longer…

Saturday

11:00 to 11:50 – Arkham to R’lyeh and Back Again – La Crosse
From its roots in the fiction of H.P. Lovecraft to modern day board games, the Cthulhu Mythos has persisted and grown in the century it has existed.

3:00 to 3:50 – Both Sides of the Table: Playing and Creating in the Gaming Industry – Green Bay/Milwaukee
Many game designers get into the industry because they love playing games. Our panel of industry experts talk about what it is like on both sides of the table for those from the gaming industry.

5:00 to 5:50 – Steampunk: What’s the Deal? – Salom F & G
Steampunk…it’s like if London had steam-powered robots, right? Come talk about Steampunk. Where the genre came from and where it is headed.

Sunday

1:30 to 2:50 – Build-a-World Game Show – Mendota
Ever wonder how writers work under pressure? This “Game Show” combines mini-worldbuilding games, audience participation, and a whole lotta fun to create new worlds on-the-fly. Timed events pit one team against the other — and winners are voted on by the audience! Run by Monica Valentinelli.

Geek.Kon is held at the Madison Marriott West in lovely Madison, Wisconsin. Geek.Kon has a lot to offer attendees, including a video room (open very late!) a large LAN room, dealers, panels, TONS of cool guests, and more! For more info on the convention, check out this LINK to the GeekKon web site. Hope to see you there!
